Scouted: Summer Vacation Rentals

July 15, 2016 Scout Modern

via casalolatrancoso.com

Summer is in full swing, which for most of us means some seriously overdue travel days are in the near future. Whether it's a weekend trip or an extended adventure; exploring, relaxing, seeing new places and eating new foods are the best ways we can think of to feel rejuvenated and re-inspired. With vacation on our minds, we pulled together our dream list of beautiful places and spaces that are bound to give you that wanderlust feeling.

Treebones Resort: Big Sur, California

We love an off-the-grid experience and this premier "glamping" resort will give you just that! Family owned and operated, Treebones is an eco-friendly slice of heaven and home to its cocoon-shaped Autonomous Tent. The 500-square-foot tent blends natural and industrial elements with wood walls and fabric-wrapped metal ribbing. It comes complete with a king-sized bed, luxurious linens and an ocean view, offering total relaxation. We like to imagine long days spent outdoors: hiking, hitting the beach and watching the sunset from the private patio. Human Nests, Yurts and Campsites with mountain or ocean views are also available.

Autonomous Tent starting at $495 + tax.

The High Line Hotel: New York City

This one's for all of you NYC lovers. The converted Gothic seminary in Chelsea mixes vintage, surplus and salvage design that is playful yet elegant. Rooms feature wallpapered accent walls, gorgeous rugs and bright linens, giving it a chic and old New York vibe. Views of the High Line Park and the enclosed private gardens offer a magical retreat. Not to mention, you're minutes away from some of the best food in the world. This place has it all for a memorable, fun, big city vacation.

Standard rooms starting at $329/night

Reethi Beach Resort: Maldives

Set in a remote location in the Indian Ocean, these water villas with ocean views are the epitome of a spa-like vacation. We can't think of anything more relaxing than listening to the sway of the ocean as you fall asleep. Advertisements boast "lunch barbecues, lobster dinners and sunset cocktails" (sign us up) as some of their many island activities along with diving, island hopping and cruises.

Rooms starting at $128 + transfer fee

Zero George: Charleston, South Carolina

You'll find true Southern charm with this one. This hotel is a collection of 5 restored historic buildings, 2 of which are 150 year-old buildings that were moved to the property from another location on Calhoun Street. Original architectural details combined with contemporary finishes add to the charming and chic design. If you're looking for a true foodie experience, this is your place. Charleston has some incredible, widely praised, "locally focused" restaurants, markets, golf courses and numerous beaches for a genuine seaside experience.

Rooms starting at $479/night

Candlewood Cabins: Richland Center, Wisconsin

Calling all nature lovers! It doesn't get much better than the gorgeous panoramic views seen from this cabin in the hills of Southern Wisconsin. The best design feature of this unit are the windows which literally bring the outside, in. Other touches include reclaimed barn wood floors and a Scandinavian wood stove. Amenities like the fire pit and grill make for the perfect getaway anytime of the year. We're pretty sure that even a rainy day would be incredible in this Meadow House.

Meadow House $185/night

Traditional Timber House by the Sea: West Iceland

A place where you can watch the Aurora Borealis by the Sea in Iceland? Yes, please. This gorgeous house mixes modern and traditional design with moody dark tones (blues, blacks, charcoals), warm wood accents and contrasting whites. With glaciers, fjords, and craters close by, this is the place we'd go for a peaceful retreat to be surrounded by nature in all it's glory. No wonder Iceland has been on everyone's radar lately!

Averages $239/night

Il Casello: Tuscany, Italy

via ilcasello.et

Overlooking the Vignamaggio Valley in the Chianti countryside, this charming B&B has terraces and gardens scattered throughout and features a salt water pool. Although it has been renovated, the property maintains its traditional Italian features with wood beams, terra cotta floors and brick vaults. We actually would just like to live here.

Single rooms starting at $70/night

Casa Lola: Trancoso, Brazil

Rustic bohemian-chic design makes the perfect backdrop for a rejuvenating vacation in Brazil. The home, consisting of a main house and cottage, mixes glass, wood and cement elements. Sliding glass doors open to the decked pool area, giving the home an airy feeling throughout. An Indonesian tiled pool, cushioned daybed and outdoor dining provide an outdoor living space where it's obvious that just as much thought has gone into the exterior as in. The property is a quick 4 minute walk to the main square, Quadrado, where you can eat, visit local shops, and often see some of the villagers' horses roaming free. This place is breathtaking!
